It’s been a while since we had a juicy rumor to discuss but I think this one is plenty credible. According to the rumor, Sega’s new Let’s Go Island 3D arcade game, which uses a 52″ autostereoscopic 3D screen for play minus the glasses is coming to the UK. It was released in Japan on July 13th and if true, it seems that Sega has wasted no time in trying the game out overseas. The standard procedure is to put the game on a location test before the release so if this rumor holds true, then the game could be found at some location probably in London very soon. If anyone finds it in the wild, let us know so we can move it over to Confirmed.
Also if this holds true then I think there is a good chance the game could see limited release in North America as well – limited as I’m sure these won’t be cheap because of the 3D technology. What would be fun is to take a Nintendo 3DS into an LGI3D cab and compare the effects. One thing with the arcade is I imagine they would have to make it so the effect can be seen from a wider range of angles than the 3DS. It also marks the 2nd autostereoscopic arcade game, behind Disney’s 3D Ping Pong. It should be most interesting to see if this technology will become more commonplace in 2012 and 2013 for arcades.
