It wasn’t long ago that GlobalVR’s newest light-gun shooter, The Swarm was released as a dedicated game and here comes news that they have conversion kits available for it too. The game is mostly the same as the dedicated, the only feature that is different apparently is that these do not support the 3DTV part like the dedicate version does.
According to the GVR website, kits can convert a number of cabinets although there are two kits in particular to fit a specific need. The universal kits can handle pretty much any old JAMMA cabinet from the sounds of it. The operator will need to switch out the monitor to an HDTV though. As pictured they show this as a universal kit conversion, I’m not 100% sure what that cabinet is, an old Atomiswave cabinet maybe? I wonder how difficult it would be to do a “cut-off” style so you don’t have all that extra wood in back and just a monitor pole mount.
The alternative kit is for existing GlobalVR gun games, anything from Aliens to Frightfearland:
An MSRP price isn’t listed but I’m sure it is close to the pricing for other gun kits they have sold, like Aliens or Frightfearland. I am going to assume that these kits are at the Amusement Expo right now, I’ll know for sure tomorrow when I am in Vegas.
From the looks of that cab that can be Aliens Extermination converted to Swarm. Its about f***ing time they started releasing conversation kits for these type of games.
Gunbound games should work on this as well right?
GunBlade I mean
I imagine that Gunblade could work but I wouldn’t be surprised if they hadn’t tried it since that’s a little older now. Its actually a good question
