It’s no secret that a Queen pinball table has been in the works, given that the machine was spotted last September in the UK. The table was originally designed by Barry Oursler for Heighway Pinball but after Pinball Brothers took control of HP’s assets, it fell into their hands. This is what led to PB producing Alien and now they’re finally rolling out Queen as their second game.
In the announcement today, two versions were revealed – the standard Champions edition and the limited Rhapsody edition. Here are the flyers for the two; They appear to use the exact same layout with the differences on the LRE version being:
- Differing art packages (LRE features gold trim & overall darker theme)
- A fully lit radio replica
- LED Lit inner side blades (shown above; appears to be etched plexi)
- An LED Lit backboard
- Shaker Motor
- Sparkling shooter rod
- Powder-coated golden metal trim armour
- Numbered plaque & certificate of authenticity
Both games feature 14 ‘live’ (i.e., concert) Queen songs as listed out on each flyer, voice overs from band members Brian May and Roger Tailor, hundreds of jingles and sounds, metal+wireform ramps, an 18.5″ LCD + 8″ bass speaker, and an upper guitar playfield with single flipper (making this a 3 flipper game). Pricing on the games per Cointaker.com is $9295 for Champions; $10,995 for Rhapsody, plus freight.
As of this moment, there is no trailer for the game although Pinball Brothers does have a YouTube channel so stay tuned there. Looking at forums, I haven’t encountered anyone who has said they’ve played it yet so I’m guessing the jury will be out on that for a bit. What do you think about it, from what’s been shown?
Dunno… playfield doesn’t “pop” for me; feels like they could have done better.
