Fans of The Wizard of Oz in general and pinball collectors rejoice – Jersey Jack Pinball has announced that the special 75th Anniversary Edition of their Wizard of Oz pinball game is now available for pre-order. The prototype units were shown off at a couple of pinball events and after the company gauged interest, they have decided to move forward with it.
The press update about this release does make clear that production of these units will take place after all pre-ordered standard and Limited Edition units have shipped, putting the likely production time for the 75th at this next Summer. That also happens to be the same time that The Hobbit pinball should be hitting production, according to the latest info. While the units will cost more than the Emerald City LEs – $9000 MSRP for the 75th – this will be due to some additions to the playfield. According to the update:
This game comes with 4 custom toys/playfield additions, beautiful red treatments, a shaker motor, a new topper, and will be numbered.
According to the flyer, those toys are : Molded castle walls (where the Witch’s Castle mini-playfield is), 3D Sculpted Twister, Lollipop Targets and a Sculpted Toto
If you want their Invisiglass, that also will run for an additional cost. Interest in this must be pretty high – usually when a limited edition pin is announced, companies like Stern have kept the numbers low – 100, 250 or 500. For the 75th they plan on making 1500 of them, so enough can go around.
