New FEC Opening in Milwaukee, WI To Feature Vintage Arcade

Happy New Year everyone! I hope it was good for all readers. Let’s start the new year of arcade posts with a new venue opening its doors in Milwaukee, WI! Called Bounce Milwaukee, the venue is scheduled to open next month and will feature laser tag, rock climbing, and various large inflatable setups (hence the Bounce part of their name).

Like most FECs they will have an arcade but surprisingly they are going pure vintage for now. It’s surprising as generally FECs tend to focus just on new games but their list is full of 80s goodness. That line-up includes: Arkanoid, Berzerk, Blaster, Bomb Jack, Centipede, Congo Bongo, Crazy Climber, Defender, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, Frogger Galaga, Gauntlet, Ghosts ‘N Goblins, Gyruss, Joust, Jungle Hunt, Kung Fu Master, Mappy, Mario Bros, Missile Command, Mr. Do, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man, Pengo, Phoenix, Qix, Space Invaders, Tetris, Time Pilot, Xevious and Zaxxon. It also includes some lesser known games from the era, such as Act-Fancer Cybernetick Hyper Weapon, Changes, Do! Run Run, Formation Z, Killer Comet, Pirate Pete, Scion, Sega Ninja and many others. Instead of charging per-play they are also using a cover fee for the games to be able to play them on free play, which has become a common payment model for classic arcades.  Their list is much larger than what I’ve put here, check out the full list here.

As always we wish them the best of luck in their business. While I’ve come to lean towards classic arcades needing a few new items to help bring in some income, they do have the quantity down to make up for it. If you are going to go all classic, numbers are extremely important. Either way, if you are in the area, go check them out after they open in Feburary!

I’m wondering how many actual cabinets they will have. The announcement did say they will have emulated games. There are a bunch of titles that I doubt anyone would play so I would be surprised if they had a dedicated cabinet for them.

Apparently they’re the first place with the new Zone Helios laser tag system (which looks like its an update to Nexus)
