While I just posted about some new arcades opening their doors out there, we’ve got more to discuss as the arcade growth trend continues!
New Tilt Studio Opens In Tempe, AZ – This is a new FEC that opened in the former location of a GameWorks and is a part of the Tilt Studio chain of arcades. With 40,000 sq. ft., they have plenty of space to house games which includes a lot of redemption but also a mixture of classic and brand new video games. That includes: 2Spicy, Asteroids, BattleZone, Battle Shark, Blazing Angels, Crossbow, Initial D 6, Luigi’s Mansion Arcade, Mario & Sonic At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Mario Kart Arcade GP2, Need for Speed Carbon, Pac-Man Battle Royale Dlx, Rampart, Silent Scope 1 & 2, Target Terror, Time Crisis 3, Transformers: Human Alliance Super Dlx and many more. They also are the only Tilt location to have pinball on site, ironically enough. That includes Game of Thrones, Ghostbusters, KISS (Stern), Metallica, Star Trek, The Addams Family, and more. The Facebook page for this specific location can be found here.
UPDATE: Thanks to Jdevy for pointing out a couple of items at this new Tilt. I had skimmed over the pics but should have paid closer attention. In one, you can see IGS’ Monster Eye 5D game in the background but also interesting is the fact that there is a Chinese made dance game setup here called Dance Super Stage. This is highly unusual for a US location so it would be fascinating to know how well it earns compared to established names like DDR or PIU:
For another oddity, look at the right in the background of this picture. The cabinet design obviously borrows from Namco’s Pac-Man Battle Royale DLX but is a two player game of some kind. I also want to say that I’ve seen this in pictures from a Chinese amusement trade show but not really sure what it is and who made it.
Flynn’s Retrocade Now Open in Roy, UT – This is a new retrocade that just opened their doors not terribly far from me (about an hour). Combined with a soda bar, they are otherwise following the retro business arcade pattern. Among the games they have: 720, Defender, Dig Dug, Galaga, Moon Patrol, Ms. Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Star Trek (Sega, cockpit), Star Wars (Atari), Track & Field, TRON, Xevious, Wizard of Wor, Zaxxon and more. They also have a selection of pinball games including Indiana Jones (Williams), Star Trek The Next Generation, Star Wars Trilogy, TRON Legacy, Twilight Zone, and a very rare Varkon. You can check out their main website here
High Scores Opens a Second Location in Hayward, CA (Thanks to TJ for the tip) – We’ve mentioned High Scores before and now they are expanding by opening up a second location about 15 miles away from the first. The game selection for the second location includes: Atari Football, Contra, Crystal Castles, Donkey Kong, Galaga (cocktail), Food Fight, Joust, Karate Champ, Omega Race, Robotron 2084, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Tokyo Drift, Vanguard, Warlords (upright) and many more. The main website for High Scores is here; the 2nd location has a Facebook page here.
We wish the best of luck to these business and if you find yourself near any of them, be sure to drop by and give them some support!
