Here’s another tip from the brilliant Sara.
“There was recently this article posted on Destructiod and I think you would want to know about it, its initial d version 4 but in full size cars. To me it just looks like a modified version of the Sega Touring Car championship simulator they have at Joypolis.”
This arcade piece, which we had posted up a concept drawing of a while ago, looks fantastic and I would love to have a crack at it, even though this is the same game except you get to sit in real cars. The big question is, is it even more fun the Outrun 2 SP SDX? We will have to wait and see, and that’s if it ever comes out over here!
Visitors to the fun little entertainment island of Odaiba, Japan should make their way to SEGA’s Joypolis amusement park this summer to see a special revision of the Initial D Arcade Stage 4 Limited arcade game using real cars. The series’ Toyota Trueno, Subaru WRX, and Mazda RX-7 Type-R are all there, mounted on motion mechanisms (sans engine) in front of a 90 inch monitor.
Players are assigned to each car’s respective character (example: the Trueno’s character will be Fujiwara), and the game supports both automatic and manual transmission selection. Each game costs 600 yen (about $5). Riding shotgun (or suicide seat) is free.
This is a limited time engagement, so Initial D fans will need to quickly find a way to Japan.
Thats funny you missed it – we broke it in the Stinger back in May, and it was also discussed here: http://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=29794&st=0
We had a concept art picture, but this was the first I have seen of the real thing, presuming that is what the picture is. do you think there is any chance of it reaching our shores?
Funny question as everyone seems to be asking this. The boys over at IDForum are a bit uptight as they claimed the ID4 and ID4 attraction news was BS and had to change their tune.
But saying that they were spot on on how quickly the ID4 machines turned up. I would say that we have a serious chance of a GameWorks getting a ID4 Attraction – but UK will have to make do with the new OutRun2 Attraction at the Troc!
