One bad thing you occasionally run into in the world of arcade gaming are conversions – when someone takes one game cabinet and modifies it so it can play a different game. This usually happens where operators aren’t making much money off of the old game so they convert into something else in the hopes of cashing in. The problem is that sometimes they destroy some real arcade treasures and rare games in the process. When you’re a hardcore arcade fan it’s pretty painful to see something like an Atari Star Wars cab converted into a Crime City game. Or as you will see in the Hellcade, a Computer Space turned into a Ms. Pac-Man, the burning of a BattleZone, Ms. Pac-Man, Tron, Star Trek and Tempest or the conversion of what looks to be a Joust cocktail (extrememly rare) into Alien Vs. Predator. These things are just wrong.
The Hellcade is a collection of pictures that documents these conversions that are nothing more abominations. Feel free to check it out but don’t say that I didn’t warn you – it’s definently not for the light-hearted.
