Elevator Action Death Parade upgrades its firepower

When Taito first demonstrated their modern arcade update to the Elevator Action series, it was a bit of surprise as they changed it from a sidescrolling shooter to a light-gun one(I still think that an graphical update to Elevator Action Returns would be nothing short of awesome). The new game used pistols but in light of the recent trend for light-gun shooters to focus on machine guns, it appears that Taito felt that Elevator Action: Death Parade could use an upgrade.

As seen on the AM-Net Blog, they have been testing Elevator Action: Death Parade Machine Gun Edition in Japan. The guns look somewhat similar to those used on Namco’s Razing Storm. It’s unknown if they have decided to give the software an update as well but bigger guns alone generally means bigger earnings. Also, don’t write this off as a Japan-only thing yet – Taito has made EADP available for the European and US markets and I imagine that it would take a simple kit to upgrade any existing EADP cabs out there.

A few more pics including a close-up of the new guns can be seen at the AM-Net Blog

Probably due to the fact that IR guns are so innaccurate and jittery. Make the weapon a machine gun and problem solved!

It still uses IR gun technology so how will using the weapon as a machine gun help this in any way?

ya know what there doing don’t you? this is oviousley taitos answer to sega’s THOTD4 and namco’s razing storm just like what namco did with let’s go jungle and made a pirate themed game based on the concept. it doesn’t really matter if its just a different gun but I do think they should make the game more fresh with new floor levels.

Exactly – that’s the point I was trying to make. So few light-gun shooters out there use single shot guns, everything is going full auto. Especially when you have a deluxe cabinet like this, it’s a logical move.

“(I still think that a graphical update to Elevator Action Returns would be nothing short of awesome). ” – Hell yeah it would!
I got a little excited when I saw the title with ‘Elevator Action’ in it but then I saw it was just another modern shooter and my enthusiasm was curtailed sharply. Oh well, I’m sure I will still play it if I ever see it in the wild.
