If there was any question about how popular the Big Buck Hunter series continues to be, then look no further than the latest sales numbers released by Betson. They are reporting that the game has already sold approximately 3000 units, with about 2000 of those belonging to the kit upgrades and all in 90 days. Naturally the kit option was boosted by the fact that there are thousands of BBHPro games out there already but with so many operators switching over, I wonder how rare original BBHPro games will become in about a year or so. Open Season Closes 2009 out with a BIG Bang!
Carlstadt, NJ – January 5, 2009 – In less than ninety days Betson Enterprises reports sales of close to 3,000 units of the NEW Big Buck Hunter Pro Open Season through its Authorized Distributor Network. Debuting at the 2009 AMOA trade show in late September, Open Season was an instant hit with operators who were currently operating the wildly successful hit, Big Buck Hunter Pro.
Play Mechanix realized the quick success and wasted no time in offering Open Season in four different versions upon its official release in mid-October. This hot shooter is available in four different configurations, 42” LCD deluxe unit, 27” CRT standard upright, full conversion kit and a software upgrade for existing Big Buck Hunter Pro units. It is no surprise that the software upgrade would be most popular as almost 2,000 kits were shipped to cabinets all over the world to date. Sales of the other configurations are also selling extremely well.
Initial collection reports of Open Season have shown an increase of as much as 45% over the previous Big Buck Hunter Pro Edition collections. “Players are obviously enjoying the new features of Open Season as evidenced by the collection reports we have seen,” commented Bob Boals, Executive Vice President of Betson Enterprises, Inc. “A true testament to the popularity of BBHP Open Season is the number of dedicated machines being sold.”
Open Season has not only helped fill cashboxes, it is also helping to grow the community of online cabinets connected through the CoinUp Network. Operators are upgrading to Open Season and getting connected to CoinUp to take advantage of the operator/tournament management system to generate excitement and additional revenue. CoinUp connected machines have seen an increase in revenue of up to 27% over non-connected machines. Starting January 7th 2010, CoinUp will begin featuring Open Season animals in its first national tournament of the year. Operators whose machines have not been upgraded to Open Season, will not be eligible to participate in national contests.
