Where will our main industry trade show go to if the sale of Earls Court and Olympia actually went through. Birmingham’s NEC would be one good alternative, what do you think? News story follows….
UK: St James Capital is currently in talks with Chelsfield Partners, the UK property company, over the potential sale of the home of ATEI and ICE exhibitions, Earls Court, as well as the company’s Olympia exhibition centre.
Chelsfield Partners is one of a number of interested parties that are believed to have approached the private property fund.
A spokesman for St James Capital said: “We’re talking to a number of different parties, all of who share our vision for the business, but there are three potential options.
“One is a sale, another is a joint venture with a strategic partner and the third is a refinancing.”
Property entrepreneurs Anthony Lyons, David Coffer and Simon Conway, who run St James Capital, bought the Earls Court and Olympia venues for £245m in 2004. The sites have been up for sale for around 18 months.
