Galloping Ghost continues their work Dark Presence and they have added a couple of new, previously unannounced features to the game, which contributor Aaron Auzins details below.
—————–
Doc Mack of Galloping Ghost has forwarded us an updated look at Dark
Presence’s control panel, which is now fitted with the reported 7″
touch screen monitors.
The first screen shows a view of what players will see when they are
at the controls – the action will be controlled with a joystick and
six action buttons. The positioning reflects that seen in Mortal
Kombat, splashed with a Tekken influence. There is an attack button
for each appendage – left and right arm and left and right kick – a
separate button is used for blocking and, while we have no indication
of what exactly the button will do, there is a “special” button
located off to the side. Mack also shared that the control panel has
been outfitted with one new, minor addition: Headphone jacks for each
player.
We’ve also reported on the touch screen panels before and you’ll see
them located on each side of the panel. To explain again, the touch
screen panels will be used in the game’s achievement/icon reward and
wagering system, it allows arcade owners to display messages when not
in play and it also displays character move sets, as you will see in
the concept art image provided by Galloping Ghost.
The current panel we are previewing here is actually the second
prototype developed for the title. Mack indicated the team is still
hard at work finalizing the panel and the next prototype will have two
more new features integrated into the panel. Again, many of the
cabinet features are going to be optional to arcade owners so they may
pick and choose which features will benefit their location.
We’ll have more on Dark Presence as news develops as Mack has stated
more media of the game will be on its way in the near future.

that’s a simular idea I have for having a touch screen fighting game. except in my basic idea would be to have the joystick and the touch on the right hand side to tap, slash and draw symbals on the touchscreen to unlock a deadly attack (not giving too much away though) the problem is it wouldn’t be very good for left handed people who write with their left hand, suppose I could always add an extra joystick to go on other side of touchscreen
What you mention sort of sounds like what Sega was going to do with PsyPhi. That was an interesting looking game.
it does a bit in that it uses a touch screen for combat, but there would be a small touch screen in place where the main 3 or 6 buttons are just like on this game but bigger though. I wonder why sega canceled it though as it sounds very interesting and original to play.
Midway did something similar with the DS port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The lower screen was used for all the action, and the upper screen showed the movelist of the character you were using. I thought it was a cool idea, and it’s cool to see someone else use a similar concept.
THIS SHIT BETTER NOT BE A FUCKING HOAX BECAUSE I’M HYPED FOR IT..
