The creation of new peripherals for the Nintendo Wii that mimic controls that have already been seen in arcades continues to come along at a steady pace and the latest one that we have heard of would be a “horseback riding simulation” controller. While an interesting idea it is a far cry from what arcade titles can and have done and as I look at the patent for this, I imagine that with this device we’ll start seeing some more arcade ports over to the Wii. You can see the patent for the new Wii device here.
As a reminder the first arcade title to introduce the horseback riding simulation idea, Final Furlong by Namco. Most recently the idea was also brought back to arcades with Go!Go! Jockey!
DAM I’ve actually come up with the same idea as nintendo except it wasn’t a cushion but a seat that acts as a button that you use your bum to press. I’ve come up with a fighting game and a space hopper game, oh well I still have ideas up my sleave. wonder what ever happened to final furlong for the wii. still I don’t think it will be the same as riding the actual machine of final furlong no matter what people say as the controll wouldn’t be the same. when you think about it nintendo released a steering wheel control for mario kart and that truck game but its not the same as the arcade due to the force feed back making it tough to steer like sega daytona.
thank you.good post.
