When I saw this news about the development of an arcade title by Pakistani company Trango Interactive, I wasn’t really sure what to think about it. Since the word “arcade” is used so liberally these days to include pretty much anything that is focused on fast-paced action, I am hesitant to believe that this is a coin-op title when it’s coming from a company that isn’t known for producing such games.
Especially when you look at Trango’s home page, there is no mention of arcade development anywhere on the site. They say that they are in “independent game development company with a focus on PC and Mobile Game Development” and “Our first game title is a PC based Third Person Shooter (TPS) using Helios 1.0”. So where this news is getting some play out there that this is the first arcade title to be developed by a Pakistani company, let’s just say “I want to believe” but until we see a cabinet and further proof that it is an actual arcade game and not just another PC game that is branded as an arcade title, it’s probably best to err on the side of caution. Still if they decided to bring it to coin-op where piracy is slightly more difficult than on the PC, I applaud their efforts and look forward to seeing more.
As for the game itself, you can watch it in the video below. It’s supposed to be a humorous take on the Punjabi culture but that will probably be lost on anyone outside of that culture. Graphically the game looks like it fell out of the late 90’s but we can cut them some slack for a first time effort for something like this.
