When it was first announced, the innovative TouchFX coin-op platform by Adrenaline Amusements promised support for multiple games to make their way to it. They really pushed Fruit Ninja on it when it was released this past January while teasing Age of Zombies and some Chop Chop Sports games but we only have really seen Fruit Ninja for it up to this point. That will change in November when at IAAPA, Adrenaline Amusements has revealed that they are bringing another top-selling game to arcades and redemption centers through TouchFX called Flight Control by Firemint Games. I’ve embedded a video of how this game works below as it’s one of those games you have to see in motion as opposed to graphic stills to understand how it really works. It’s a neat idea that is pretty simple in it’s basic design but can become hectic later on – perfect for arcades in other words. AA said via their Twitter account that “Flight C will be adjusted to feature a quicker gameplay on TouchFX (adding an arcade flavor!)“. TouchFX of course can operate as both a ticket redemption or video only product so take your pick.
At present the game is available for iPod, Ipod Touch, iPad, Android, PC, Mac, Playstation Move, Nintendo DSiWare mobile phones and Intel AppUp. I’ve heard that Fruit Ninja FX has done well in different centers that picked the game up so I wonder how Flight Control will compare. Either way, it’s always refreshing to see more unique content like this making it’s way to arcades.
BTW, Adrenaline has revamped their website, it’s much sleeker now providing a great platform for presenting their games. Check it out.
Interesting that both Half-Brick and Firemint are Australian developers. Lot’s of great indie titles coming out of there. also have Train Conductor 2, which is selling really well, and might work on that platform. I like where Adrenaline are taking it.
