Through 2012 we saw an uptick in stories about classic arcades opening their doors around the US and judging by the news today, 2013 is starting off on a similar foot. If you are in or around Houston, TX tomorrow then a new arcade with a focus on the classics is opening it’s doors called The Game Preserve.
According to the information on their Facebook page (which you can visit here), they will have 51 classic video and pinball games available on free play for the grand opening event. Some of those titles include: Star Wars (Atari), Galaga, Donkey Kong, Tempest, Black Widow, Defender, Berzerk, Ms. Pac-Man, Mappy, Satan’s Hollow, Burgertime, Bubble Bobble, Qix, Robotron 2084, Dig Dug, Thunder Blade Deluxe, Gauntlet Legends, Mortal Kombat, a dedicated NEOGEO cabinet and more. For pinball they have games like Pinbot Casino, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter II, Revenge From Mars, Fish Tales, Coney Island, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, World Cup Soccer and more. They have almost 2000 sq. ft. to house the games and there will be more games added to the mix soon. For the grand opening event they also will have hot dogs, popcorn and prizes so it sounds like it’s going to be a great place to be tomorrow. We also wish them the best of luck in the business and hope that the year will prove to be a profitable one.
