Update: Yes this was an April Fools joke. I had wanted to do another one again but that didn’t come together but fortunately Namco decided to do one.
There is a notion about arcades/amusement facilities that they are nothing more than playgrounds for guys. Well to combat that, Namco is taking the motion head on with Namco themed stores just for teenage girls.
The first of 200 stores opened today in Japan, in downtown Osaka called the Ebisubashi Namco store. The new model focuses mainly on prize and “sticker” machines, photobooths that print the images to an adhesive sticker. They also are working with a popular Shibuya fashion magazine to run a permanent photo display, where on a “regular basis” one lucky girl will be picked as the VIP model to be showcased in this area.
These facilities will also have a “Tama Harsh” meeting area, essentially a salon. Here members will enjoy amenities such as a cafe, free drinks, a dressing room and more. They also specifically mention being setup to assist cosplayers with getting ready for whatever event it is that they would like to do.
While this is starting out in Japan, I’m pretty sure that this would go over quite well out West, don’t you?

April fool?
I hope so!
I can just see this bringing arcades back from the brink haha
You forgot to mention that every game in the establishment is Firefly: The Arcade Game.
Clearly there isn’t enough pink…
