Remember the announcement regarding the upcoming Total Nuclear Annihilation Pinball? If not, then it was only a few weeks ago. Designed with an 80s aesthetic in theme, artwork and playfield design while sporting newer technologies, it is the latest “new retro” title to be aiming to show up in arcades and man caves out there.
Not wasting any time after the announcement, Spooky Pinball first opened up orders to existing customers (or those who signed up to their e-mail newsletter) this week, followed by taking sales orders from anyone who is interested. The design of the game certainly seems to have found a market as the company is reporting a record number of sales before the general sales were announced. If you want to get one, they are handling orders through email.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the game, here is an interview that 904PinballZine had with the game designers, Scott Danesi and Matt Andrews. It is about 50 minutes long:
What are your thoughts on this game from what we’ve heard so far?
I saw it getting tons of interest at the Midwest Gaming Classic in April. I did not end up trying it due to the amount of people waiting to play it. Our booth was pretty close so I got to hear the soundtrack quite a bit and can say I really enjoyed that soundtrack! Also, the light animations are nicely done. I look forward to actually trying it.
The artwork looks more like early 90’s. And the nuclear death was a real threat in the 80’s, not a good idea for entertainment at that time. So, the concept and the artwork is not my representation of the 80’s.
