I was going to be doing an Arcade Recap for the subject of today’s story, however, I found out that Minions: Bullseye Mania by TouchMagix is now shipping, so this technically becomes an announcement post. Let’s dig in.
Minions: Bullseye Mania
This game was first demonstrated as the prime new piece by TouchMagix at IAAPA 2024. It uses NBC Universal/Illumination’s popular Minions IP, which comes from the Despicable Me universe of movies. If you aren’t already familiar with them, then I can’t help you there, but this is an IP that has a strong appeal with kids. The game itself is essentially a ball toss game, but uses objects like darts instead of balls.
The game as seen in the video above has changed between IAAPA and the final production models. At Amusement Expo, they introduced bananas (which they were in the process of sourcing soft foam bananas) that are mixed in with the darts; the darts had also changed to be double-sided. Then, the artwork to the cabinet has also changed. Here are the final renders of the new artwork:
It is available as the single one above, or in a dual format. Note that the yellow bar is full of well-diffused RGB LEDs and shows you the status of your in-game progress as you go. There are two levels – hitting the wheel with many objects from the Despicable Me universe, where if you fill up the meter within the time limit, then it switches to the bonus round where you need to hit the minions themselves who are floating up in bubbles – hit them all to win the Super Bonus.
I asked one of my distributors about the price and they mentioned an MSRP of $17,995USD, which is for a single unit. While these are being built at Fun Company in Wisconsin (as TM’s other games have been), there are still increased parts costs, which the price reflects.
What are you thinking about this one?
