As recently teased by the company, Stern Pinball is coming back to Star Wars, this time with a theme that is focused on the events from the Return of the Jedi. To help hype it up, pinball streamer-turned-Stern employee Jack Danger has been playing the different Star Wars pins from over the years, culminating in the reveal for this new game.
Star Wars Fall of the Empire Trailer
Stern Pinball teased Star Wars: Fall of the Empire a couple of weeks ago, and as they usually do, the full rollout came a short time later. Rumors and confirmations flooded the internet in the aftermath, some of which including the info that this is spearheaded by veteran pinball designer, John Borg. Here are the videos:
For those looking for the quick info. Note that some of these are Premium/LE only, but we’ll detail that more below
- First Spike3 game
- New 18.5″ HD screen
- Revamped audio system
- Force Outlane Magnetic Ball Saver
- Sculpted AT-AT Toy
- Death Star II toy w/ opening ramp
- Millennium Falcon toy
- Sarlacc Pit whirlpool target
- Sculpted Jabba The Hut, Stormtrooper helmet, TIE Fighters
- Custom callouts from actor Chris Bartlett as C-3PO
Out of all those features, the ball saver is the coolest idea I’ve seen in a while; it’s similar to the MagnaSave feature found on the Prem/LE models of Ghostbusters. Note that this Force MagnaSave is also only available on the Prem/LE and not the Pro.
The Cabinets
As usual, there are three models for the game: Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition.
Special features for the Premium/LE:
- Custom sculpted motorized AT-AT Walker
- Motorized Hyperspace lift ramp feeding wireform ramp
- Custom sculpted Tie Fighter ship with spotlight
- Use The Force with Jedi Save outlane magnetic ball saver
- Illuminated custom sculpted Jabba the Hutt figure
- Custom sculpted Darth Vader helmet
- Custom sculpted Stormtrooper helmet
- Powder-coated steel bottom arch
The LE also has a number of things that it comes with, such as the Expression Lighting System, although the Premium can have that added later if you want. You can find the full Features Matrix here.
The game is available now, so if you’re rearing to get one, that’s great for not having to wait. That said, they do only make so many of these for each run, and when/if a certain game sells out, then your order will have to wait for a while.
I already shared extensive thoughts on this, so I won’t rehash it all out here again, but feel free to comment on our social media channels about it.
