Most arcade games are pretty simple and anyone can figure out how to play them after a round or two but on occasion a game comes along that is a little more complex than the norm. Even then it’s rare that the game would need a video that is eight and a half minutes long to explain what is going on and how it is supposed to be played. Such a game that apparently needs that is the new Derby Owners Club 2008 by Sega. The game does look cool both graphically and aesthetically with it’s giant primary screen and 8 terminal setup but I never realized that this series gets that involved in horse racing. I know that at least one previous version of DOC was released outside of Japan, one that some US distributors still carry but I have never had the chance to actually play the game.
The video is in Japanese but if you’re interested anyways, click here to check it out.
It was Derby Owners Club World Edition that was released in the US and Europe (circa 2003/2004). This and WCCF were marketed heavily by SAE with national tournaments, instruction leaflets and game ‘reps’ who showed customers how to play. If only they did this for all games!
will the 2008 DOC ever be released in the U.S.???
Taylor,
Not that I have heard although there is a slight chance it could be as I have seen older versions of the game being carried by distributors. I have not heard anything about DOC 09 in a while though
I have talked with a employee with Betson Enterprises because I currently work for Main Event in Texas and he has stated that from the contacts he has dealing with Sega games that DOC 2008 is NOT coming to the USA.
Brent
That is really disappointing.
