We have covered the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY before. They are certainly a kind of museum gamers can get behind as they are home to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games. Their store house holds over 20,000 gaming items, including arcades in huge numbers, spanning from Computer Space to at least Guitar Hero Arcade. The museum has been home to arcade-related exhibits before, including the Videotopia exhibit last year. Also when they aren’t running specific arcade exhibits, they have playable games on hand that you can check out as part of the overall experience. According to a new piece on Wired.com, it looks like they will have another exhibit to feature arcade games (among others) as they are currently working on a project to assemble the best gaming has had to offer (which naturally should include more than a few coin-ops). Beyond that details are still scant but I am certain that we will find out more around November.
