NG:DEV.TEAM teases GunLord for NeoGeo MVS, Dreamcast

arcadehero January 23, 2011 8

They’ve already released a couple of titles for the Neo GeoMVS and Dreamcast and NG:DEV.TEAM, a game development group based in Germany is teasing their next Neo-Geo (and Dreamcast) title, GunLord. All we know about the game at the moment is from the teaser site image – it’s a jump and shoot action game with a focus also on exploration. Metroid meets Contra comes to mind, or Turrican, or any number of great side-scrolling classics in this vein. It’s good to see NG Dev Team branching out into this genre (supporting a genre that hasn’t had good representation in arcades in quite some time) and as soon as we find out more we’ll be happy to pass it along.

In the mean time I’ve added the game to our New Games Watch list for the year. I’ll add a page detailing the game to the site once we find out more.

You can visit the GunLord teaser site here as well as NG:DEV.TEAM’s Facebook page here.

UPDATE: New pics of GunLord can be found here

NG Dev games are terrible. I do not see how they can justify selling MVS kits of their crap games for $600

Might as well buy half the Neo Geo MVS catalogue loose for that price.

Well I understand what you mean but at the same time we don’t know if the game will be terrible just because of their past games, which were different genres for one thing. Best to wait and at least see it in action before passing final judgment on it.

I really don’t understand people saying that game is a crap. Maybe they even have not tried it, only seeing screenshots or videos. Could you be able to code that game? Surely not.

Too expensive games? Yes, sure. But we have a hope of lower prices with new print runs.

Fast Striker is pretty decent game by NG Dev..this gunlord i dont know ive seen pics the graphics look like 16 bitish..but its a port of a Neo-Geo still if the game play is good im willing to take a chance an bypass graphics..theres a market for good shmups an almost forgotten game category…an there are hardcore loyal dreamcast fans…so combine the two an they sell some games…will they become Millionaires no..but i still support them so they can keep making games..hey at least they attempted to fix the Problems when they released last hope an made last hope pink which fixed some of the problems the first run had…keep the dream alive…dreamcast..

So, wait, is this a legit new Neo Geo game? As in, I can actually purchase a physical cartridge, plug into the MVS in my garage, and PLAY it!?

If so, color me crazy excited.

Yes, they’ve released two MVS games over the past year (which have been met with mixed reviews from what I’ve heard, they were shmups). Keep in mind though, the MVS releases are made more for arcade operators than consumers and thus they carry a higher price (another reason why the Dreamcast is supported so people that don’t want to pay several hundred for the MVS cart can still get a version).

    Whoah whoah whoah, 600 BUCKS!?

Surely the cartridge alone is less than that? I really want to try GunLords but for that price I could buy 3 full 2 slot cabs.

    Bummer.
