Happy (belated) 5th Birthday to Arcade Heroes

I swear I’m much better at remembering personal birthdays but for whatever reason I always think that the Arcade Heroes birthday is a few days later than it actually is. And to top off my shame, this year is a milestone as well – the site first began operation on 12/3/06 which means we’ve hit the 5 year mark! As for site hits, when I moved the site over to a dedicated server a couple of years ago we lost all of the information on that end but combining where we were then and now, we’ve accumulated around 2 million hits, which I’m happy with considering we cover something of a niche in the gaming world these days. Although I want to see arcades move out of that niche they’ve been holed into so the work will continue. My sincere thanks to everyone who has provided tips, information, run our news with credit and support to us in this time.

As such there are some plans for changing things up this next year. I don’t have an exact date but there is more I would like to do to improve resources that we can offer. Suffice it to say, there will be some changes coming to how the site looks among other things. I also hope to finish my book up this next year although I still have a lot of work to do on it and it’s not easy to find free time where I can properly focus on that. In fact there is something you can do to help me out. I want to dedicate a chapter modern arcade locations out there. I cannot travel around to them all (although that would make for an interesting show on the Travel Channel) but as many of you either operate, work for or have a favorite arcade you attend, I would really like to hear about it. Send me some brief thoughts or information about the place (some of the top games there, how the payment system works, anything unique about the place, etc.)and include pictures if you want.
