First pics of a nearly complete Wizard of Oz Pinball machine

Well we have been waiting a long time for this information to come along – what would Jersey Jack Pinball’s Wizard of Oz look like with the art and toys in place, as opposed to concept art and such. For Memorial Day weekend which is being honored in the US on Monday, they have released the first shots of the playfield with artwork and toys, whcih they say is “95% complete”. With the game in production, it’s release is just around the corner. The pictures speak for themselves really, the level of detail is just great and I can’t wait to give one a spin, even though I am not a fan of WOZ. I won’t be able to get one for my own arcade right now but I certainly would like to based on everything I have seen of it up to this point.

Wow! This looks fantastic! It really reminds me of the old build quality of Willams Bally-Midway.

Looks wonderful apart from one thing. Anyone else think the signitures spoil it ?

    I am wondering if that is possibly just something they are doing for the 1st one off the line. It would seem a little unusual to do that for all the units. I guess we’ll know soon enough!

Modern pinball artwork is so ugly. I thought since they were using an older movie they’d go for the hand illustrated 80’s/early 90’s style but this is your standard photoshop look about it. Lots of toys is a bonus mind you. Should be interesting to play I’m looking forward to something that feels different than Sterns output.

Answers:
The signatures are only for this “1st” one. They will not be on the production units.

They are forced by the WOZ copyright holders to use their pre-approved stills. The one good point is that the witch between the flippers is a work of art not photo (must have taken a huge selling pitch to get that passed). JJP’s next pin is supposed to not be a licensed property so I expect it to be completely hand drawn.

My opinion is this has the potential to be a nice money maker in arcades. Lots of “toys” and a kid friendly license, I don’t see this one being passed up by the little ones. If it plays as good as it looks I can’t see it being passed up by the older ones either.
