UPDATE: See the cabinet and playfield pictures here!
With AC/DC Pinball under their belt this year, Stern moves ahead with their next project which takes us back to a comic book theme. They had been dropping some hints about it with questions on their Facebook page for a while and this great trailer which was just published today confirms it, with a sneak peek at the playfield drawings as well.Comic book themes seem to go by pretty well in the virtual pinball arena, like with Pinball FX2 which has some Marvel themed tables already. I have heard that this will employ an LCD screen which would be a first for Stern but that will probably stay a rumor for now. Beyond this, I’m sure more details are forthcoming since Summer is right around the corner soon so stay tuned.
So what is your opinion on the theme so far? Good, bad, whatever? X-Men does have a wide appeal and a lot of content to pull from so if the design is fun to play I imagine it will do well out in the wild.
I’m keeping my hopes up for this one but I wouldn’t be too surprised if they use the same exact action figures you can buy at stores on the playfield. I know the days of making pinballs with tons of moving parts/toys on the playfield are long gone but I feel nowadays the sales of pinball is more geared towards the home buyer. Instead of coming up with 3 versions (like what they did with Transformers) how about using all that resource and effort to make ONE pinball and incorporate more features? I myself would pay more for a pinball with more playfield features rather than one than a “limited edition” with slight variations from the regular version. As for pinball licnese, I really thought Stern would do an Avengers pinball next but I wouldn’t be too surprised if that’s already on the discussion board.
Probably the best pinball teaser I’ve ever seen.
Just watched the video and love the homage to the Stern video game Moon War.

Bring out a KISS machine please
Is it just my imagination or does Lonnie Ropp look an awful lot like Meat Loaf?
Might just be my first NIB pin. Awaiting more details.
