NewsBag: Dave & Busters 2014 Location Openings; Pinball Comeback; Sega 3D Classics

Here is the last Arcade Newsbag of 2014! I have been working on compiling a bunch of media for a special “Year-In-Review 2014” video, which I have had to scale back a couple of times as there is really so much that has been covered that it could take a few hours to discuss all of it if I really decided to cover everything. So I have had to edit it down and hopefully I will have it done before its officially 2015 😛

In the meantime I wanted to knock these items out while I am thinking about it, otherwise I might not post anything for a few days.

Dave & Busters Location Updates: Earlier this year, we ran a story about an announcement from Dave & Busters that during 2014 they planned on opening 7 new locations in the USA. We haven’t ran any news about that since as I did not see any updates on it but looking through their web resources there are at least 4 new locations that have opened this year:

The Pinball Comeback – While this isn’t anything new to those of us who follow pinball regularly, it is nice when the same is put out into the ‘ether’ via mainstream news sources. This is a story ran by Fox Business about the comeback of pinball and they filmed a good part of the report at the Arcade Odyssey in Miami, FL, which just celebrated their 3rd anniversary. I can’t get the video to embed here so click on this link to check it out.

Sega 3D Classics  – A 3DS-based Christmas present came from Sega this month in the form of a compilation of ‘3D Classics’ version of their beloved games, including several. This fully takes advantage of the handheld’s 3D capabilities:

There’s a Dave & Busters going in to an old Barnes and Noble bookstore in Grand Rapids, MI in 2015. Construction on the building and lot is currently underway…
