I originally was going to post this as all about the EAG 2015 Expo that took place this week but as of writing this I did not get the media I was hoping for so I will just go with what I have. Just a note to stay tuned to the site on Monday – I have something new regarding Bandai Namco’s Star Wars Battle Pod that is not related to the EAG show. 😉 EDIT: That interview is now live!
EAG 2015
The EAG 2015 Expo is finished and to be honest I was a little surprised that more news didn’t come along from the show. It appears that the only new-new video game that hadn’t been seen previously was Time Crisis 5. Otherwise the show looks a lot like IAAPA2014 did, which is normal given that the two events are so close to each other. What I have has mostly come from this Facebook album of EAG by Las Vegas Soho, a major arcade location based out of London2.
Time Crisis 5
And here is a video from Arcade Belgium showing the game in action. I do have to apologize about the low quality on the video I had but sometimes you just have to go with what you’ve got.
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX – UPDATE: As a note to some of the incoming links, this game was actually released for Western audiences last year.
Star Wars Battle Pod
Jurassic Park
At IAAPA we were asked to put a disclaimer about the cabinet not being final but I am not seeing any difference in the cabinets two months later. Something can still change however as I heard the release on this has been pushed back to March.
Here is a video by Arcade Belgium showing it in action as well
Showdown
And the video from Arcade Belgium:
GoGo Pony
This was at IAAPA however EAG had a quad setup whereas IAAPA only had one of these around.
Stern Pinball –
Featuring the new Premium version of The Walking Dead and WrestleMania Pro:
I’ll refer to the links above for anything else but as mentioned, it wasn’t much different from IAAPA2014 so if you read our coverage on that then you are good to go.
Magic Girl Pinball – One of the items I am waiting on is media from Heighway Pinball’s Full Throttle Launch Party event that was held in London yesterday. But in the meantime, here is some news from John Popadiuk’s company Zidware where he is getting his unique and sold out Magic Girl Pinball machine ready to ship out the door. In case you don’t recall this one, we discussed it way back in 2013; you can browse his website here. These pics were shared on The Pinball Inventor Facebook page:
All of his stuff has been low key on the media front yet original; as far as I am aware every run of these machines sells out. I have not heard of any popping up at a commercial location though.
Arctic Thunder Gag – H/T To Kyle Ward for this. I’m not sure if this will work in all browsers as this is the first time I have tried to embed Facebook video on the site but it is working in my preview. In case it doesn’t, here is the direct link. I’m not sure how old this is either but it is a fun arcade gag, you don’t see too many of those in such shows. 😉
Life-sized Pac-Man maze – H/T to Kieran May for this one – I almost forgot to include it. Expect to see this soon as a life-sized Pac-Man maze was created for a Super Bowl commercial, via IGN UK
Name That Game #31 – Last time we spoke of Naming That Game, the guesses came in fairly quickly so good job on that. I had thought the last one would have taken a little longer; otherwise I might not have done the easy giveaway game and gone with something a little more obscure. For your answers:
#1 – The Real Ghostbusters by Data East
#2 – Sorcerer Striker by 8ing/Raizing
#3 – Fast Lane by Konami
Let’s start the drumroll….your titles for this week to guess on:
No idea on any of the 3 games to guess at.
Lost land adventure was there at the show right?
Highway games said it was there but there wasn’t any photos of the game in action but yet there are of the other new game.
I thought since rawthrills had an unamed motorbike game they might have brought it to the show since it’s due out in March.
Was there anymore info regarding mariokart arcade updates?
so looking forward to having a go at all them new games this year 😀
LLA was, I just wasn’t sure what to share since it was so similar to IAAPA 😉
RT still should have that coming but my guess is that it will be the big unveil at Amusement Expo. My source was very reliable about that, I just haven’t heard anything on it in months.
On MK, it sounds like Namco hasn’t received the go ahead to announce anything in regards to the updates over here. They are coming in some form but its on a different schedule than Japan. My guess is we will know at AE. 🙂
#2 knights of valour???
#1 Some kind of Qix clone… maybe one of the many Gals Panic games
#2 Legend of Silkroad
#3 Not Elevator Action
#1 Super Qix, sorry about the mention of Gals Panic…
#3 Intrepid
Surprisingly there is one for sale on Craigslist and after checking out the gameplay I could get the last answer!
Good coincidence then – not one I thought anyone ran into that often!
Here’s the listing. Unfortunately I don’t have the bank roll to go snatching up uncommon games just for the sake of it.
