Here Is JAWS from Stern Pinball

As promised the other day, Stern Pinball has unveiled their next pinball machine, JAWS. This is based upon the legendary 1975 film of the same name but also features clips from “all of the JAWS films,” custom speech from actor Richard Dreyfuss, John Williams music, and more. Here’s the trailer, then a more in-depth look at the game featuring George Gomez:

Note that this video gets into much more detail on the features:

Designed by Keith Elwin, you goal is to lure JAWS out as you then give battle to the world’s most famous shark. The Pro model has a static sculpted JAWS toy, while the Premium & LE have him pop-up from beneath the playfield. Here are some details from the official page:

Stern’s JAWS pinball games will have players grabbing their harpoons and playing as Quint, Hooper, and Brody to save Amity Island’s residents and the Fourth of July!  As the grizzled fishermen, tackle the most dangerous ocean creatures on the planet.  Tension mounts as you see “blood in the water” from our animated lighting effects.  Fire pinballs at the motorized “Shark Fin” target swimming across the playfield.  Anticipation builds as you navigate the “Orca Boat” upper playfield, featuring a “Lookout Tower” ramp, a ship’s wheel horizontal spinner on the deck, and a “Radio” stand-up target to call for help.  Lookout!  A motorized custom sculpted “Great White Shark” bash toy comes crashing through the bottom of a fishing boat, terrorizing players in this thrilling pinball odyssey.  Will you survive JAWS?!

In addition to immersive film and audio assets integrated into pinball action, JAWS includes custom speech by actor Richard Dreyfuss and the iconic movie theme music by John Williams.

The game will feature new quests that are tied to Insider Connected and there’s even a game mode where you play as the shark. There’s even a 3D video (given that there was a 3D JAWS film).

Stern has integrated some new LED features, particularly with the “chum line” moving drop target. Here the playfield is less thick and the LEDs produce a more diffused effect than you usually see with inserts.

The game comes in three models as you’d expect, Pro, Premium, & LE. The LE, which features a sculpted shooter rod and art inserts, is mainly what is shown in the videos above and is available for Stern All-Access members to pre-order now. LE’s are limited to 1,000 units. You can find the full features matrix on a PDF file, here.

JAWSWhat do you think about this one? Pricing starts at $7000 for the Pros and goes up to $13k MSRP – so while I wouldn’t buy one out right, I am tempted to trade off one of pins for a JAWS…
