Previewing Alpha Ops VR Strike’s Stages

Summer’s here, and with it a number of big new arcade exclusive releases are near. Several of these games have had to be pushed back slightly due to the tariffs situation, however, with things currently looking somewhat clearer on that going into the second half of the year, it won’t be too long before they are finally shipping now. One of those new arcade exclusive releases is Alpha Ops VR Strike, the upcoming original virtual reality motion shooter from 3MindWave and Sega Amusements International.

This title has been showcased extensively at trade shows across the world since being unveiled at IAAPA 2024; some footage of it was taken there for the AH YouTube channel, as well as on location test beforehand. But thanks to Mandy at 3MW and Lester at SAI, we have now got a direct capture preview of all three levels (including the final Boss Stage, which was initially not available) here for you.

Alpha Ops VR Strike – Gameplay Preview

For a quick initial refresher, Alpha Ops VR Strike is a kind of evolution of the concept first seen in the successful VR Agent, which 3MindWave and Sega Amusements released back in 2022. That game stood out thanks to its hybrid gun-headsets, and Alpha Ops refines them, using a different, lighter design and a seated motion base rather than a standing format. The game itself naturally differs too – instead of becoming secret agents, players join the Alpha Ops squad, blasting advanced warfare foes in their tank.

The game has three action-packed, Unreal Engine 5-powered stages to strike through. Up first is Ice Blizzard, which sees players rolling across a snowy alpine ravine to a huge army base:

The second stage, Desert Gorge, thrusts the Alpha Ops armored vehicle into a completely different climate, with sandy canyons giving way to a battle on a bridge and more military outposts.

And finally, the culminative third boss stage pits players against the game’s greatest challenge, with hordes of heavyweight bosses right in the thick of the enemy headquarters:

If you’d like to take another look at the game, Sega Amusements themselves have recently posted their own gameplay preview too; this shares some of the same footage but edited down into a brief trailer. For those more interested in the rhythm game side of things it’s also worth mentioning that they have put out a new official trailer for Maimai DX, comprised of clips from Amusement Expo 2025. As mentioned previously that one should be shipping out a little later (more around late Summer/early Fall from what was said).

Until it releases soon (our last word on it from Sega Amusements was July; though site friend Kevin Williams said the other day that it might be August now, and reader Kieran recently got to play it at a UK location), are you looking forward to Alpha Ops VR Strike? What was your favorite stage of the three shown above here?
