Sega Amusements Teases New ‘House Of The Dead Reawakened’ Arcade VR Game

The starting shot on teases and announcements of new arcade games for IAAPA Expo 2026 has already been fired, as Sega Amusements have teased what initially looked like an unnamed new title of theirs today. We can confirm that this is a new, VR-based entry in their iconic House of the Dead series: House of the Dead Reawakened. There’s little to go off of with it currently, but let’s take a quick look at what’s there (apologies on the delay on this news, as I was offered to get a DDR machine for a great price and been taking care of that all morning/beginning of the afternoon).

House of the Dead: Reawakened

At mid-day in the UK today, Sega Amusements quietly put out a 30 second teaser for a new game of theirs that will be appearing at IAAPA 2026 this November. The teaser in question can be seen below:

This only had a few different shots in it, but what was there seemed to be a shadowed preview of a gothic-styled cabinet featuring a vertical screen, and what look like two tethered VR guns, similar to the type that were used on the 2022 release VR Agent from them and 3MindWave. Then at the end, a brief “Something is reawakening” teaser line, and the confirmation it will be at IAAPA.

Any seasoned Sega fan would immediately think of their famous House of the Dead series upon seeing this teaser, and as it turns out, they would be very correct in that quick assessment. At Sega Amusements’ official website, there now exists a page for a certain title called House of the Dead Reawakened in its URL – and following it curiously throws up nothing but this cryptic statement, at the time of writing this:

As well as that, Attractions Magazine interestingly have an article that mentions the game by name, linking to said page and claiming a few specific things regarding it (including it apparently running on Unreal Engine 5). It’s possible this page was briefly home to more information right when it originally went up, and AM got a lucky glimpse of it before a veil was unsurprisingly thrown back over everything. Our bad on not catching it in time if so 😛

Whether that is the case or not, none of what’s detailed in that piece would be surprising; reworking the aforementioned VR Agent into a HOTD game could be a winning formula, as that was always one of the greater virtual reality arcade shooters, and many have previously said the series could lend itself to VR well. It will mean that the release is set to be fairly costly, but that was true of its last entry (House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn) too.

Whatever the game is like though, it’s pretty exciting to see Sega Amusements building up some hype for it already, and the appearance of both this and Bandai Namco’s Resident Evil 2: Arcade at IAAPA 2026 should make for a great bit of competition with zombie lightgun games.
