Update on Sega Rally Arcade – not cancelled

Despite the closure of the Sega studio in charge of creating racing titles for consoles, this title is still on track and is going through testing. To prove it, here are some photos from a testing unit setup just today. Also to further clear it up, this will be Sega Rally 3 and the testing units all have Super Challenge written on the marquees.  Let’s hope that this game tests well so it will see a general release.

Edit: This has not been confirmed by Sega, our tipster would like to point out he doesn’t work for them. It was just the way it was written that it sounded like it was someone that worked for Sega, our mistake.

Just wondering where this is on test, is it the same place where the machine was originally tested a while back? Sorry to hear SRS were closed so here’s hoping this gets a general release as it marks a clear evolution in the Sega Rally heritage.

Perhaps it might be an idea to take the test rig to London, specifically Funland in Trocadero, as this place is always crowded with lots of tourists, this could hopefully get lots of play here from an international audience and then generate good word of mouth.

It’s at Bowlplex in Basingstoke and another at Bowlplex in Cardiff apparently.

Hi G00n3r, thanks for the information, both test locations are a little out of my way so hopefully it might go on test at a leisure complex in London. Additionally, have read on Arcadeheroes today that the Konami ‘Action Cop’ game is on test at the Acton ‘Tenpin’ in West London near Park Royal tube station, who knows, maybe Sega Rally 3 might get a trial run here. Thanks again for the update.
