New arcade opens in Holladay, UT – Atomic Arcade

Here’s a new location story from my neck of the woods – Holladay, UT which is essentially SLC. The new business is called Atomic Arcade and they are offering a great selection of classic titles for people to enjoy. I’ve been following the development of the place for a few weeks now, although I haven’t had a chance to drop by yet (technically he isn’t opening for business until Friday or Saturday) but as you can see from the video below, he has quite a selection of classic and JAMMA games to play. Some of that includes a Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, a Multi-Sega vector game (in a Star Trek cabinet but it also has other titles like Tac-Scan, Eliminator, etc.), Defender, Star Castle, Berzerk, Centipede, Black Widow, Galaga, Blaster (in the rare Duramold cabinet), Marble Madness, Gyruss, Discs of Tron, TRON, an original Pong, Tempest, NARC, Operation Wolf, Sinistar, Q*Bert, Burgertime, Battletoads and more. There are quite a few rarities he has on hand, which I think is cool. There is a possibility that later in the year they will begin serving beer; their Facebook page can been found here. I wish him the best of luck and I will try and stop by at some point to play some classics that I’ve only read about before but never have come across in the arcade, like Super Bug, Star Trek or SkyDiver.

I have fond memories of Star Trek, though I do recall being a bit puzzled by it on the first few plays (this was a million-billion years ago when the game–and me!–were still new.)
