Illinois continues to be the land of the new arcade location, why that is precisely I am not sure, but it is surprising that so many arcade venues have opened their doors their over the past few years. Some of that might be due to it being the hub of new developments for the sector, it is where you find the HQ for Raw Thrills, Sega Amusements USA, Bandai Namco Amusements America, Stern Pinball, Incredible Technologies. However a lot of these new venues have a stronger focus on the classics than they do the newer games that are available.
The latest location I have found to have opened their doors is called Unkle Munkey’s Coin Club, located in Edwardsville, IL. It is a new business developed by the Wang Gang Asian Restaurant, which admittedly I have not heard of but where I am in the West that is probably why. The location had their Grand Opening on the weekend of the 12th so if you live in the area you can make a visit and have some fun. Fortunately they do have a website up that lists the games (sometimes these new locations don’t bother to share those details) which includes: Atari Pong, Terminator 2, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Dig Dug, Lethal Enforcers, Turbo, Galaga, Arctic Cat, Tetris, Golden Tee Live 2014 (being that is a pillar of bar games it makes sense to have the latest build), Big Buck Hunter Pro, Shogun Warriors, Centipede, Tempest, TRON, Moon Patrol, Hydro Thunder, Asteroids, Pole Position cockpit, Xybots, Ms. Pac-Man and more. They also have a good selection of pinball to play: Space Invaders, Baywatch, Spy Hunter, Johnny Mnemonic, Addams Family, Alien Star, Jurassic Park and even Baby Pac-Man. Here is a picture from their website along with a couple of pictures posted to the KLOV forums by user Nondrowsy:
If you happen to be in the area, be an Arcade Hero and pay them a visit!
