Japanese developer Byking has been working hard on a unique and original arcade concept by the name of Magician’s Dead. This game is an arena battle title where the player takes the role of a magic-wielding warrior in a battle for supremacy. First unveiled in February 2016, the game is on track for a release in Japan sometime this year or next.
What’s New For Magician’s Dead
The primary feature to stand out on Magician’s Dead is the control scheme. In one hand, players use a joystick similar to the Nintendo Wii nunchuck. In the other, they wave it in front of the screen in certain patterns to cast spells (similar to Kinect). Since it required a higher level of skill, it will be surprising if this game receives an official Western release but never say never. We now have this image of the modified Vewlix game cabinet that Magician’s Dead will ship in; along with some of the gestures for casting spells.
Byking has released a new official website to promote the game along with a new trailer.
What are your thoughts on this game and would you like to see it arrive in Western territories? Would you like to see more arcade titles follow this style of play?
This does look like a really impressive game. I love the idea of using this kind of technology in arcades and I fel it hasn’t ben done enough.
