It’s the last weekend of October so let’s get our Newsbytes on:
Big Buck World Championships 2017
As I write this, the Big Buck World Championship has been underway since yesterday, where the Ladies Tourney winner has already been crowned. At the moment, the general competition is taking place. If you want to see it, click here to view it live on Twitch. The tournament is taking place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas. For details on the Ladies Tourney, here is a quick PR bite sent out:
Melissa Romanik knocked Kylie Hodsdon into the reload bracket during the winners final, forcing Kylie to fight her way to the finals from the reload bracket. In was a nail-biter watching Romanik and Hodsdon battle it out for the win. Romanik gave Hodsdon a run for her money in the first trek as winning came down to the fireworks bonus. Kylie prevailed, but needed to win one more trek to claim the title of Ladies Tournament Champion. It was anyone’s game in the second round of the finals, but Kylie Hodsdon kept her eye on the $5,000 and in the end proved that with hard work and dedication, anyone can become a champion.
From the little I’ve been able to watch so far, it seems like the competition from the ladies is a bit stronger than we’ve seen in previous years.
Super Chexx Pro Unveiled
As a part of the Big Buck event, New York based manufacturer ICE has unveiled a new version of their classic “bubble hockey” game Super Chexx. Called Super Chexx Pro, the core game of spinning molded hockey players appears to be the same but they’ve updated everything else from the electronics & lighting to a new LCD scoreboard that can show videos and just give the game more modern “feel”. I imagine that this will also be at IAAPA 2017:
The Polybius Legend
I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet but the Angry Video Game Nerd tackled the legend of Polybuis in a new video. Check it out:
Arcade heroes VLOG #9 – Talking TMNT
My latest VLOG is discusses the upcoming TMNT arcade game that Raw Thrills is working on. While a lot of this is a review of the info already published on AH, I also share some new details about the game that I learned from Matt Cianchetti, the game’s producer at Raw Thrills. Mainly with how the redemption mode works. Give it a watch:
Arcade Direct For Halloween – The Walking Dead
Another direct capture from an arcade I’ve done is up online, just in time for Halloween. Here’s the full game of The Walking Dead:
Speaking of Halloween, it has been a while but I just uploaded a new design for shirts/hoodies/mugs/stickers/smartphone cases/pillows/etc. that is Halloween-centric.
Rashlander On Test
As mentioned the other day, the upcoming arcade release on the Airframe platform is now playable at Tappers Arcade Bar in Indianapolis. I didn’t hear back on how long the test will be taking place so if you’re in the area and interested in it, hit them up soon.
