It’s been another slow news week so instead of holding this one over for NEwsbytes this weekend, we’ll just show it now.
The Atari Table PONG game has been covered on AH various times in the past, with units being produced by UNIS and made available through a number of official distributors. In case you’ve missed out on all of that news, here is the official trailer:
Over in Japan, they have a slightly different trailer to promote the game, with Taito helming distribution in the region there. If one was interested in buying the coffee table for their home, they are available on Rakuten under the “Taito Toys Line” for around $4000USD. As a part of that promotion, they have produced this trailer below. Also of note, Taito has tested out a coin-op version of the game at their bar/arcade concept in called MEGARAGE. Apart from that, UNIS is still promising more info on a different coin-op model, we’ll just have to hang tight (my bet is on IAAPA).
If you’ve had a chance to play this, what do you think of it?
Not a very comfortable body position to play it for a longer time. I would prefer a standing body position for this.
I wonder about the long term effect on the playfield from the ball travel. Is it “sealed” to prevent dust scratches, etc. I wouldn’t want it to look like an ice hockey game was played on it after a couple years.
