Raw Thrills Launches Series 2 Cards For Injustice Arcade

One of the nice things about the card vending video game idea, is that you can refresh interest in the game by releasing new cards. Andamiro has done this a number of times for their redemption-focused card games, and now Raw Thrills is rolling out their own update on cards for Injustice Arcade with Series 2.

Series 1 cards launched with the game at the end of 2017, and have proven to be a popular item among players. Apart from finding cards being sold on sites like eBay, I’ve been told by different distributors that they frequently field card restock requests. Still, with a year having passed, providing 110 new cards is a great way to bring players back to the game. This also comes on the heels of a huge price drop for the game, an effort aimed at getting it into more locations.

Equipment distributor Betson reports that there is new software that has been designed to work with the cards, and that a kit is shipping out to locations that “currently lease or own Injustice Arcade.” This kit features various items to promote this new series, including a translite, decal with a QR code (taking you to the card checklist) and a roll-up banner(example pictured to the right; you may have seen the Series 1 banner posted next to existing machines). After a site updates the game, it will work with both Series 1 & 2 cards; if an IJ game has a serial # of 42700 or higher, then the correct software is already installed.

With this series, Raw Thrills is introducing a new rarity tier, Platinum. Previously, it was categorized just as Bronze/Silver/Gold. Platinum cards will be the hardest to find, each of which is a coveted “Team Card.” Here is the breakdown of how many cards exist in each series:

Series 1

  • Bronze- 13
  • Silver- 17
  • Gold- 70

Series 2

  • Bronze- 13
  • Silver- 17
  • Gold- 70
  • Platinum- 10

Don’t be surprised when additional series are announced down the road…as long as demand is there, then more can be made. Be on the look out for this to start hitting arcades any time now.

Note to all, be careful with this update. there may be some problems with the new software. Us, as well as two others that I know of, have loaded the new software and the game now crashes. Had to reinstall old software to get the game back up. Raw Thrills is working on this I’m sure. Just a word of caution.

Bill, I’ve been running the Series 2 software and cards for weeks now and have not seen the game crash. So it’s probably a YMMV situation.

We got our update kit in this week. Apart from taking a really long time to install (took me about an hour. Software load took forever then it rebooted itself about 5 times, feeling way too much like a Windows 10 update profile.) it went smoothly. I haven’t had any crashing issues as of yet. I also didn’t have to go back in and re-adjust my various pricing and difficulty settings despite the manual saying I would have to. I have yet to do any testing to see if the update changed any characters power levels or not. (like nerfing Red Lantern)

We had a lot of issues installing the update. Had to call Betson to let them know. They informed us that a lot of the thumb drives weren’t formatted correctly. They sent us a new one and asked for the old one back.

Installation was ridiculous though. The PC kept freezing up. It took us about an hour to get it to boot the thumb drive properly.

The game hasn’t crashed since being updated though.

Also if you go into the menu and test the scanner and place the Justice League team on it it comes up as Suicide Squad in text.

Thank you for the update Casey. I surmise this has something to do with Raw Thrills’ security system…when I had to update TMNT, it was a little bit of a headache as opposed to the straightforward way it used to be done. We can certainly thank Chinese pirate factories for that :/

Interesting find on the Suicide Squad text!

Found one of these units while I was on holiday in London.
Must have been extremely lucky, as the first card I got was one of the platinum team cards (Teen Titans)
