More Details For Touhou Perfect Sakura Fantastica & P-47 Aces Mk. II On exA-Arcadia

exA-Arcadia has made two big announcements for a pair of shoot ’em up games coming to their platform soon, with location tests happening in Japan over the next week. Both games are remakes of a previous title in their franchises but there are various enhancements & additions to make these outings exclusive.

Touhou Perfect Sakura Fantastica

As a special remake of the 7th Touhou game, the excitement level for this one is quite high in Japan (and anywhere else there’s a fan of the series). The wait will soon be over to play it though as the game is launching in Japan on the 28th.

Per the press release today, this arcade version of the game includes “improvements such as balance adjustment, UI improvement and optional button layout settings.” As a special bonus for fans, they also contracted 12 voice actors to voice the 4 main characters and 8 bosses. To further boost the hype on this, exA has begun a contest on Twitter where they are giving away very limited autographs from these actresses, something that already at the time of this writing was trending in Japan.

Given how difficult the arcade business has been in Japan for the past two years, and continues to be, this is definitely providing a huge shot in the arm for business there. I would not be surprised if every game center there ends up grabbing this game, it’s just that huge.

P-47 Aces Mk. II

If Touhou isn’t your thing but shmups are, then exA has another game coming along soon to whet that appetite. Based upon P-47 Aces which was released to arcades back in 1995, this one begins testing in Japan on Thursday, where it will go for a week at two sites, a Round1 and a Leisure Land (same locations where the Samurai Shodown V Perfect tests were just held). They also released some new information on this today, although if you don’t mind watching a video of this being played from last year, here’s the last time I saw it:

The game includes the original game remastered to play on modern displays, but it’s presented in 4:3 mode. Then they have the new WIDE and KAI modes, which take up the 16:9 screen and allow up to 4 people to play. These modes have included a lot of difficulty balancing to deal with having 4 players on the screen.

WIDE – “In addition to the additional elements of the original, it is a mode that allows 4 players to play at the same time and adjusts the balance accordingly. As the screen becomes wider, the high difficulty of the original is eased by the fast enemy bullets and the huge bosses.”

KAI – “This is a significant rearrangement of wide mode. In this mode, you can enjoy restored elements such as the hyper system whose specifications have been reduced from the original , expanded the stage and brand new enemies, adjusted game balance and strengthened effects.”

They’ve also redone all of the art, added new characters, planes, and an arranged soundtrack.

Also from the press release (translated via Google):

Another major change from the original is the addition of new characters and fighters. By adding four aircraft with different performances and four pilots to control them in addition to the original aircraft, the range of single and co-op strategies will be wider. The character design has also been redesigned, so you can choose a fighter that suits your play style, or you can choose it according to the appearance of the pilot!

The full arrangement by Manabu Namiki, one of the members of the original story, is a must- listen for fans! You can now listen to songs that you couldn’t listen to until the end in the original, and there is no doubt that one song with a special guest composer will liven up the final stage ! Can you hear?
In addition, the SE has also been refurbished so that you can choose the old and new sounds to suit your taste.
The main games page on exA’s English side states that P-47 will launch in September; I’ve been told that the West should see it before Japan does in this case.
What are your thoughts on these two new arcade games?

Thanks for this. I’d be interested in playing P-47 if it makes it over to the UK. Regards
