Before the IAAPA show last year, it was mentioned that Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix’s Angry Birds Boom videmption game would be getting a content update. This did appear at the expo, but it wasn’t 100% complete yet. Now, the update is live, so let’s take a quick look at what it’s all about.
Angry Birds Boom v1.29
Angry Birds Boom! was first released back in the Fall of 2024, so there is a good chance that you have come across it by now at an FEC or two. While not the first arcade title to feature the Angry Birds license, it does take a different approach to the original mobile game by turning it into a 3D light-gun game, in a similar vein to Raw Thrills’ previous Nerf Arcade. If you haven’t given it a try, players use the mounted guns to fire off a constant stream of birds at the different structures to take out the green pigs, and win tickets.
For this update, Raw Thrills has added a few new features that they have said shows stronger earnings:
- A jackpot bonus score that if beat, rewards the player with the posted jackpot bonus.
- A high score leaderboard (better for non-ticket play)
- Players can now join mid-game instead of having to wait for the next game
- UI updates for gameplay retention
They additionally added an “Arcade Mode” to it with an update back in November. This also shows up on Raw Thrills’ high score website, where most of their games show the top scores from where ever players happen to scan the QR code that pops up on a game after they have finished.

This latest update is available for free from Raw Thrills. It is easiest to install by connecting the machine to the internet, but can also be obtained physically in the event the game can’t be connected in a location.
