UNIS Releases Turbo Nova & Jump Master

UNIS is keeping busy with some new arcade releases, giving us a little bit of a possible preview at Amusement Expo. That said, there are times where they release something and it doesn’t make an expo appearance, as was the case with Ski Hero. Either way, let’s take a look at their new titles, Jump Master and Turbo Nova.

Jump Master

We’ll start with the videmption game first, Jump Master. We haven’t seen many pogo stick games in the industry, with Taito’s Hopping Road serving as one of the rare examples we’ve seen over the past twenty years. UNIS has also made some jumping games before, with Pogo Jump falling into that category (it used a trampoline instead of a pogo stick controller, however).

Jump Master brings the pogo stick controller back, which also includes a handle steering mechanism at the top with an action button (there are four, but they all perform the same function). This game was at IAAPA 2025 where I did get to play it, although I am uncertain if it was the final software (if so, it did need some work). It’s a racing game where the main purpose is to get tickets and get a little exercise in while doing it:

UNIS has often supported several different types of racers at one time; while they’ve been leaning hard into the kart racer lately with the likes of Monster Kart and Monster Jet, Turbo Nova falls under the supercars/Cruis’n racer umbrella. It comes in a Twin cabinet with dual 65″ 4K screens, putting players through fantasy courses with futuristic supercars. The cabinet also features motion seats, wind effects, and force feedback steering controls:

What I wasn’t aware of while playing is that it apparently uses “AI-powered lighting” effects/visuals, although the game page for that does not elaborate on what that means – AI has generally been used in games to mean computer controlled enemies/NPCs. I’ve not heard of it being used in active graphics rendering pipelines, but maybe that’s something I’ve overlooked out there. It could refer to generative AI on textures, although from what I played, I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, although I didn’t look that closely. Maybe they’re just referring to an RTX graphics card that is often used for AI stuff, or they’re just using the term for SEO and hype (not entirely like using “bits” to discuss graphics in the 80s & 90s, where that was mostly meaningless to how graphics were actually drawn on the screen). You can see what it looks like in person here or there’s some very quick shots directly captured from it in the trailer.
