It’s time for our third and final new game reveal straight from day one of Amusement Expo 2026; in addition to AVATAR Legends, exA-Arcadia have also unveiled G.I. Joe: The Wrath of Cobra, our second new arcade game to be based on the classic IP following JET Games’ take. Surprisingly, the latter is not at Amusement Expo as I had expected it to be, so this stands as the only representation of the IP at the show. Let’s check it out:
G.I. Joe: The Wrath of Cobra
This game is a compete overhaul of Wrath of Cobra (released for home platforms in 2024), which was a beat ’em up released to Steam, but the company behind it went bankrupt. exA has picked up where they left off and have developed the ultimate version of this game, with an all new gameplay system, improved graphics, completely new voice overs and redone stages. There are also two new characters – Shipwreck and Lady Jaye – for a total of eight playable examples, including favorites like Duke and Snake Eyes.

The character illustrations have been done by Tekken artist, Junny. Every Joe and Cobra is fully voiced, with exA taking pains to try and find people to voice the characters as close as is possible to their originals (many of the OG voice actors have sadly passed away). The attract mode also includes the full G.I. Joe cartoon opening, using a 4K remaster that looks really nice.

Note that while it handles up to four players, it can operate fine on two player cabinets.
The effort behind this one is quite similar to what exA did with Jitsu Squad: Feat. The Samurai Pizza Cats. There were so many significant changes made to that, that it was almost a sequel and certainly a better experience than what you got on consoles. G.I. Joe will launch sometime this Summer, at which point we’ll be covering it in even more detail then.
What do you think about both this and AVATAR Legends: The Fighting Game?
