It has been a while since we’ve heard from PLAYMIND, an arcade developer out of Canada who introduced their PLAYBOX to the market back in 2021. There had been different models for the PLAYBOX, including a single player setup, which is the last time we saw them. Now, they’re back with the PLAYBOX 2.0.
The Playbox 2.0
As a very quick refresher, the PLAYBOX is a ball toss controlled multi-game system that was originally made for up to six players. It uses a micro LED tile display, which at the size and distance it comes in, looks great, although I’m not sure what sort of modifications they made to it for all of the ball tossing going on. Here’s a look at that:
Now, as mentioned, they have the PLAYBOX 2.0. Same general concept, but refined with some changes to make it operate better. This includes a modified enclosure/cabinet, with the balls going to individual player stations instead of the open “ball pit” that the original used, a larger screen, more protection along the ceiling, and now it has up to fifteen games. It also can operate with or without redemption; pay-to-play or freeplay. Here’s a manufacturer made video to promote it:
This design also helps in corralling players together, as before it was quite easy for more than six players to just bunch together and toss balls.
One thing to note is that for the next few days, they are offering the game at a “special introductory price” of $29,999USD; after November 10th, it goes up to $32,999. They will not be at IAAPA 2026, but do intend on being at Amusement Expo 2027 next March.
Have you come across or operated a Playbox before? What do you think of this new design?
