Fridays issue of Famitsu is set to reveal that the original cast of SFIV are back. I think it’s pretty safe to presume that this is the news that Shizowa was talking about on the Street Fighter IV dev blog which he could not talk about until Friday. Coincidence? I think not. Still, I will be keeping an eye on the site just in case anything new arises.

So from the tiny screen on these scan we can make out the following characters; Chun Li, Zangief, Blanka, Guile, Dhalsim & E Honda. Plus Ryu & Ken and we have the original cast from the first Street Fighter 2. When thinking about it, it’s a bit of a no brainer including all these characters because leaving one of them out would have caused uproar among Street Fighter fans. I don’t know what I would have done if they had left out Chun Li.

What’s really important now is who the new fighters are. We already know of one, Crimson Viper, which we don’t know much about. But what other characters, special moves and surprises do Capcom have in store for us? I guess we will have to just stay tuned. Can’t wait!

I’m actually somewhat disappointed that the old characters are back. Each major version of Street Fighter generally has a distinct set of characters (SF is very different to SF2 is very different to SF3), and I was hoping for something different. Still, nice to see the old bunch rendered in glorious 3D, rather than the somewhat limited Street Fighter EX style.

Argh, if I can get my arcade open anytime soon, I am saving up for this game right away – if there’s no official US release I’ll import the dang thing as this is going to be awesome.
