I’ve said before in regards to the world record score on Donkey Kong that this won’t be the last story about it and the same applies to this post. Made famous by the documentary The King of Kong A Fistful of Quarters, the challenge and the fight to claim the top score on Nintendo’s arcade version of Donkey Kong keeps on as challenger Dr. Hank Chien has claimed a score of 1,110,100 as verified by Twin Galaxies. Dr. Chien was not featured in the KoK film but was inspired by that project to claim the high score himself and this is the second time he has claimed the top score from top challengers Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe. Ubergizmo reports that he also left himself plenty of room for improvement as he did not achieve this score on a killscreen either but he sounds humble about it – stating that he’s sure that his current score can be beat by aspiring players. I’m sure it won’t be too long before that happens again.
