If you live in or near Platte City, MO USA and you need to fulfill your fix for some classic arcade gaming, then a new venue has opened its doors just for you. Called the GCW Retro-Cade, the venue had a previous location but just opened this new one a few weeks ago. I know exactly how moving locations can go, hopefully it means a big boost in business for them.
According to their Aurcade.com listing they have 18 cabinets, more if you count multicade/multi-game cabs and more looking over their Facebook page: Area 51/Maximum Force, Black Tiger, Centipede/Millipede/Lets Go Bowling combo Gauntlet Legends and a Dark Legacy, Metal Slug 6 (Atomiswave cabinet), Space Invaders, Tekken and Tekken 3, Sonic Fighters (yes, the Sonic the Hedgehog 3D fighting game), San Francisco Rush, a couple of Nintendo Playchoice 10 cabs, Virtual On Cyber Troopers, a Time Crisis II single and more. They look to have more space to expand into and they have a Cabal currently being restored. They also have a game console area going which includes classic consoles like the Atari 7800 and newer ones like the Xbox 360.
It is good seeing them expand, from personal experience I have learned how having more games = bills getting paid. Of course I could say that more about newer games than the older ones but either way when it comes to filling up your arcade with content (I get asked about this all the time), the bigger variety you have, the better the chances are that customers will find at least one game they want to spend money on. So many times I have heard people wander into a venue and bemoan that such and such game is not to be found. Pleasing everyone is a difficult task that you need to have 100+ working games to really satisfy but it seems that when you get above 40 it tends to draw a good amount of attention.
Anyways I’m getting off into a tangent so we wish GCW Retro-Cade the best of luck and if you live in the area, be an Arcade Hero and go support them with your dollars!
