Big Buck World Championships 2016 Live Stream
The annual Big Buck World Championships began yesterday with the Ladies Tournament and will finish today with the full event. Thousands of dollars are up for grabs to the top Big Buck Hunters ($20k for the Grand Champion) and this also gives arcades a nice bit of exposure thanks to the live streaming on Twitch.
You can watch the Championship live right here on the Big Buck HD Twitch Channel
For the Ladies Tournament yesterday, Melinda Van Hoomissen won, taking home a nice check for $5000.
Cesys To Introduce A VR Motorbike Motion Simulator At IAAPA 2016
At each IAAPA, we hear news from certain professional motion simulator companies and their latest products. These tend to be very high end simulators, costing much more than your typical arcade machine. One of those companies we have covered before is called Cruden. They have a new name for their amusement industry products called Cesys and at IAAPA 2016, they are introducing a clever motorbike simulator design. Called the Cesys Motorbike Simulator, this integrates an Oculus Rift with a motorcycle helmet. It “will see two riders pitched head to head on real Yamaha R6 machines, using the latest virtual reality. (VR)”; the motion platform offers 2 DOF, there is force feedback in the handle bars and it features body tracking. You can read more about it here.
Speaking of VR, Valve has announced their “Site Licensing” program where arcades are specifically mentioned. This essentially means more legal use of content out in public, much like what PC LAN centers have to deal with. Thanks to Stingray for the tip.
