We only reported about the existence of a new Rampage arcade game in development by Adrenaline Amusements a few days ago. Where I was told that Dave & Busters locations would have it this week, the company has just put out a trailer that shows a couple of cumulative seconds of footage of the game in action. It also appears that a D&B gets smashed in the movie…
As you can tell from that footage as well as the trailer thumbnail, this is setup to work like the classic Rampage, with George, Lizzy and Ralph enjoying a health bar but also what might be an attack or defense meter (the second bar below the health has what looks to be a shield icon…hard to say); then there is something below that which might be lives. I reached out to Adrenaline for comment and will update accordingly.
I’ve been told that the cabinet design is “very similar” to a cabinet for an unreleased videmption game that was on test last year by a different company. Without specs though, we can only guess at things like dimensions and screen size (looks like a 55″ but could be a 65″ just as well). It is certainly different from the upcoming TMNT game in that the control panel appears to be detached, with some inches of space in-between that and the monitor section.
It does have a joystick although I noticed that the actress was not using it here, doing the typical “actors ‘play’ video games” thing 😛 You appear to climb and destroy buildings just like in the original, with destruction also happening on the ground with the vehicles. With that, I think there is a good chance that this could find its way to the rest of the industry as some point and made also have an amusement/non-ticket mode. If so, what would you think about it then?
A very good decision that they stay with the original Rampage concept. It’s unusual and entertaining team play. If they can manage to create up-to-date animations, they will have a winner.
Is this a teaser trailer? It looks like a TV commercial.
This game is horrible. It’s Rampage in name only. It’s a coupon button smasher. Really disappointing because its a concept that could still sell but they went the redemption route.
I have played that game when i was young.
