Those blue-blue skies are seeing some action in arcades all over again, as today we have got confirmation that the new Motion Edition of Daytona Championship USA from Sega Amusements is now shipping out to arcades – and the full details on it. In the words of the great Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, let’s go away!
Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition
In case anyone has not caught our previous coverage on this new package for DCUSA, the deluxe Motion Edition cabinets were announced late last year ahead of IAAPA 2025 in November, where they officially debuted. As a refresher, these machines take the game’s later New Season Edition software update from 2019 and give it a full motion base experience, modifying a cabinet design originally seen in Sega Amusements and 3MindWave’s recent Apex Rebels (which is also now available in a standard model).
Some of the cabinet features mentioned on the product page are as follows:
Custom air-ride motion system for an unparalleled, immersive racing experience.
Force-feedback steering and refined handling for arcade-perfect gameplay
Immersive surround sound brings the roar of engines to life
Eye-catching race car cabinet with chrome accents and chequered flag header
Iconic Hornet High Class livery and vivid animated lighting that commands player attention.
Classic 4-speed gear shifter
Safety Features: emergency stop button, seat belt, and on-screen motion warnings.
Since the software and game content remains much the same besides some safety accommodations for the motion base (and a slightly different in-game camera feed system during races), all the differences here are on the hardware side, and from experience seeing it at trade shows, there are some nice touches in there. The four-speed gear shifters come as standard here, unlike the original non-motion deluxe cabinets, and the Hornet High Class/Gallop Racing artwork liveries on the cars are pretty cool.
For a fuller look at the cabinets in action, see this clip filmed at EAG 2026 by Namer Merli. They did have a subtly different art package at Amusement Expo 2026, featuring a less colorful bezel and one or two other small differences, but we have confirmed that to be an earlier prototype design.
In talking to Marty at Sega, he has clarified that this performed well in location testing (even taking better earnings in this cabinet than it did with its previous iterations) and is aggressively priced, being “probably the lowest priced motion driver out there,” although he didn’t say exactly how much the MSRP would be. Either way, if anyone has the space for a full Daytona multiplayer setup this should be a great opportunity to grab one, especially if they missed out on the limited Super Deluxe edition some time ago.
What are your thoughts on Daytona Championship USA Motion Edition – if you’re an operator, are you ready to “fly sky high!” and add it to your venue this summer?
