Summer 2026 may be the season of soccer/football, as covered on the site of late, but that doesn’t mean other sports can’t see some action in arcades, and the game we have to talk about today is no exception to that. Sega Amusements recently announced they are shipping their newest original video redemption (or ‘videmption’) arcade game, Putt It! Par-Tee, so let’s take a quick look as it starts to tee off at locations.
Putt It! Par-Tee Is Now Shipping
Revealed late last year ahead of IAAPA 2025 (and location tested in the UK not long before then), Putt It! Par-Tee is the latest creation from Sega Amusements’ own in-house development team, branded in this game and 2024’s Zombies! Ready, Deady, Go as Odd Dragon Studios. It hits upon the interest in indoor golf entertainment, something we’d already seen out of the company just under a year ago with them selling 501 Fun’s Interactive Mini Golf, but this is a very different, more unique proposition to that in numerous ways.
In terms of how Putt It! plays, it can be best described as a fusion between mini golf and an alley bowler (aka, Skee-ball). Players use their putters to aim golf balls into the score rings for tickets, with higher scores making their on-screen character run faster. There is an obscure game from many years ago by Rock-Ola that also did exactly this (1985’s Putter Golf), however Putt It! effectively brings that into the present day, updating it with a twin cabinet design that can link up three pairs together for competitive socialization and video screens.
Some decent care and attention has been put into those video screens, with them being used to display several colorful cartoon characters that the game assigns to each player. These include Zorq the Alien, Hazel the Witch, Captain Mulligan, Dimples the Clown, Unit 32 the Robot, and Dr. Eagle, who are all fully voiced as well. The animations of these play out whilst the time runs down for you to get your hole-in-ones.
Since the game is shipping now as of this month, you should be able to find it at a few locations out there already. Among those is this one in Cornwall, England, as this post and the below photo from @CRetrogaming shows, and there are likely one or two out in the wild over in North America now too. Not sure how many places will get a full six player linked setup, but those will be a sight to see with the LED marquees.
You can find a press release for the game going over the game’s qualities in the context of the boom in indoor golf entertainment below. Overall, it is pretty neat to see Sega Amusements continue to make games like this with twists on simple but entertaining concepts. Would you like to play Putt It! Par-Tee at an arcade or FEC near you?
Press Release
Indoor golf is growing fast, and it’s becoming one of the most popular ways for people to enjoy this collaborative pastime.
With simulators and entertainment venues popping up across the globe, players are discovering that they can enjoy a ‘classic round of golf’ with friends, whatever the weather. According to a recent BBC Sport report, industry analysts predict that virtual and indoor golf could soon rival traditional outdoor play!
Bringing Golf to the Arcade Floor
For arcades, FEC’s and social entertainment venues, that’s an exciting opportunity and one you do not want to miss. As more people look for fun and social ways to enjoy golf indoors, Putt It! Par-Tee from SEGA Amusements brings that same appeal to the arcade floor.
Mixing the fun of mini golf with classic redemption gameplay, players use a real golf club to putt balls into seven scoring holes, racing against the clock to score as many points as possible and win tickets. It’s easy to pick up, but getting the best score takes skill, giving players plenty of reasons to come back for another round.
Why Indoor Golf is Surging in Popularity
The BBC highlights several key reasons behind indoor golf’s rapid growth: it removes weather barriers, fits modern lifestyles, and transforms golf into a more social and accessible experience. Indoor golf venues, simulators, and hybrid entertainment concepts are thriving because they allow people to play casually, competitively, and year‑round — often in groups.
This shift mirrors what arcades already do best: turn traditional activities into fast‑paced, social, repayable experiences. That’s exactly where Putt It! Par‑Tee stands out.
Multiplayer Fun That Draws a Crowd
Things really level up when the cabinets are linked together. Up to three two-player units can connect, letting as many as six players compete side by side. Each player is matched with one of six quirky characters and progresses through themed on-screen levels, while individual displays track their progress. The large, shared screen billboard keeps everyone involved and helps create a lively atmosphere around the game.
Fast-Paced Gameplay That Keeps Players Coming Back
There’s no waiting around either. A new ball is automatically dispensed after every successful putt, keeping the action moving from start to finish. In the final ten seconds, the Double Points Final Shot gives players one last chance to boost their score and beat the competition!
Built to Stand Out
With bright artwork, colourful lighting and a unique physical putting action, Putt It! Par-Tee is designed to stand out on any arcade floor. The combination of fun gameplay and friendly competition makes it easy to attract a crowd and keep players coming back time and time again.
A Great Fit for a Growing Trend
As indoor golf continues to grow, Putt It! Par-Tee is leading the charge and not only bringing the golfing excitement into the arcade, giving venues a fresh, quirky attraction that players of all ages can enjoy together.
